Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nasi Dagang Wakaf Bharu - NDWB is a cherished culinary gem nestled at 197, Jalan Puteri Saadong, in the heart of Wakaf Bharu, Kelantan. Specializing in authentic Kelantanese cuisine, this vibrant local restaurant invites diners to experience the rich flavors and comforting warmth of the East Coast’s signature dishes. As soon as you step in, the aroma of steaming coconut-infused rice and traditional spices immediately awakens your senses, promising a meal steeped in heritage and crafted with care.

NDWB’s star attraction is unquestionably their nasi dagang, a beloved dish featuring fragrant glutinous rice steamed in coconut milk, served alongside tender, flavorful fish curry. Each bite evokes memories of Kelantan’s coastal charm—creamy, slightly sweet rice perfectly complementing the spicy, savory curry. Beyond nasi dagang, the menu delights with a variety of breakfast favorites such as nasi berlauk—rice accompanied by rich, meaty dishes—and a colorful array of traditional Kelantanese kuih, providing both visual and palate pleasure. The kuih selection alone is worthy of admiration: a rainbow of textures from soft, steamed cakes to subtly sweet treats that linger fondly on the tongue.

The atmosphere at Nasi Dagang Wakaf Bharu is unpretentious yet deeply inviting. Situated just behind the town’s historic post office—a landmark that holds nostalgia for many locals—NDWB offers more than just food; it’s a portal to simpler times and cherished memories. Reviewers like Swee Siong Goh speak fondly of visiting as a personal walk down memory lane, highlighting the place’s unique connection to the community’s heritage. The casual, laid-back vibe encourages both locals and visitors to linger over their meals, savoring not only the food but the genuine warmth of the service.

Evenings at NDWB bring an additional treat: a tempting satay stall offering perfectly grilled skewers, smoky and succulent, which many patrons eagerly anticipate after a day’s adventure. Complement your meal with a cup of local Nescafe, deliberately less sweet to balance the rich flavors on your plate—an ideal pairing praised repeatedly by satisfied customers.

What truly sets Nasi Dagang Wakaf Bharu apart is its authentic representation of Kelantan’s culinary identity and its dedication to preserving local food traditions. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a returning local, the restaurant promises a deeply satisfying gastronomic journey that comforts and excites your taste buds alike. With reasonable prices and generous portions, NDWB is a beloved go-to breakfast and light meal spot where every dish tells a flavorful story rooted in Kelantanese culture.

Don’t miss this culinary icon when you find yourself in Wakaf Bharu—each visit is a delightful dive into the soul of Malaysia’s East Coast cuisine.

Convenient place to savour nasi dagang a Kelantanese signature dish just behind the long standing landmark of the post office. There used to be a Presbyterian church too but it has been relocated. I grew up in Wakaf Bahru so a walk down memory lane whenever i revisit Wakaf Bahru. In the evening maybe the famous satay is still in operation. I usually order Nescafe (less sweet) if i patronise local stall. It is more uniform in taste compared to coffee or tea.

If you’re looking for an authentic taste of the East Coast in Tumpat,, Nasi Dagang Wakaf Bharu is the quintessential neighbourhood breakfast joint that hits all the right notes. Tucked away from the main city hustle, it offers a slice of Pantai Timur food culture right on your plate. This spot is incredibly popular among locals, which is always the truest endorsement of quality. From early morning joggers (nearby park) to families out for a treat, the atmosphere is welcoming. The star of the show is, of course, the Nasi Dagang. The rice is perfectly steamed, aromatic, slightly chewy, and rich with coconut milk. Pair it with their signature Gulai Ikan Tongkol (tuna curry), which strikes the perfect balance between sweet, savory, and spicy. Beyond the Nasi Dagang, you’ll find other staples like Nasi Berlauk, fried noodles and a selection of traditional kuih-muih that disappear fast. One of the biggest hurdles with popular breakfast spots is the logistics, but Nasi Dagang Wakaf Bharu makes it easy. Unlike cramped city-center stalls, there is ample parking nearby, making it a stress-free destination for a quick stop or a long breakfast. It’s easy to see why I’ve become a return loyal customer. There’s a consistent "home-cooked" quality here that’s hard to find elsewhere. It isn't just a meal; it’s a morning ritual that leaves you satisfied every single time.

Nasi dagang Kelantan terbaik! The best! Ada serbuk kelapa, nice. Suka makan dgn lauk gulai ayam. Kalau tak silap dulu dia guna nasi perang. Sekarang nasi putih mcm Terengganu. Dulu kedai tepi jalan besar, dah pindah seberang jalan sbb ada construction. Suka tempat baru ni, tenang je. Ps: dia pakai air boring ber pump lah.
